RLS Stone by Design mainly work in English limestones.

The three most common types used are:

This stone is very hard with a lot of "character" in it (e.g shells). It is the stone that Lincoln Cathedral is mainly built out of. This stone is very special and in limited supply as there is only one quarry and most of the stone was used to build Lincoln Cathedral however RLS Stone by Design are able to use some of the small amount produced each year by the quarry.

This stone is very consistant and you can see which way the beds are running (how the stone was formed in layers). Ancaster is the mosted used stone in Lincolnshire as it is more readily available than the Lincoln stone.

This stone is white in colour and it is a very hard wearing and durable stone. It was predominantly used to build London and most of the major city's in the UK and is still used today for new build projects. You can use Portland for almost any project, thats why it is so good for carving and fireplaces.
